Master thesis

Des collections à l'image des entreprises : étude des collections photographiques de Lhoist, Neuflize Vie/ABN AMRO et la Fnac.

Abstract : Since the early 1970s, photography corporate collections have been developing first in the United States and then in France. This dissertation of Master in Information and Communication Sciences aims at investigating the conditions, modes and effects of the existence of these collections within the companies. The photographic collections I've been working on come within the scope of cultures, strategies and organizational frames specific to each firm. Related to the logic of patronage, these collections play a significant part in management and advertising. They contribute to strengthen corporate cultures and identities by embodying values of modernity and innovation. Being at a crossroads between art and business, they also raise important stakes in terms of relations between the audience of the firm and the works of art exhibited in the buildings.
